Oh the joy of receiving a package from a stranger! EBBP organised by Andrew many thanks to him! How life is full of coincidences as well... I went to the post office early this morning to mail off a package as well to my dear friend that lives in London, who is originally from South Africa...I painted a little lion sleeping in the jungle for her baby that is on the way. I joked with the postal worker that I was here to make an exchange as I handed her my parcel to be post and my slip for my parcel to pick up...and low and behold it's from CookSister! Who is an award-winning South African blogger!
So I am licking my fingers as I type since they are covered in South African lemon lime infused honey that had infused the parcel...as I greedily opened the box, I told my husband, mmmm something smells so good! It was the honey that she had carried home in her luggage from South Africa, unfortunately, it didn't make it in the French post so well and was mistreated. I cry French racism against superior foreign honeys trying to infiltrated the market. Zut! I not so savvyly licked the other bottles of wonderful things that she sent me! First, I made a big pot of tea (she sent me Earl Grey one of my husband and I's favorites! We drink it everyday in the morning and then a south African favorite of Rooibos (I might have to request some on her next trip back home) in the afternoons. I have eaten three of the yummy short bread biscuits already.
This post is taking a l
ong time, because I just put a chicken in the oven covered in the Guinness Mustard seeds that she sent me. Most beer mustards are English or American in origin-never French. hahaha! I *heart* Guinness! The English have a long tradition of using beer as a flavoring for mustard, and that comes from the pub menu: mustards, bread, cheeses and ale. Yum, yum! I licked the spoon for that one too and think that I will spread it on some bread with some smoked fish that I got at the fish market. I love mustards and anything spicy...speaking of: Lamb Tagine Spices from Morocco were also in my pressie...they will be the hit of my Easter brunch where I am going to make a leg of lamb--now I know how I will make it, rubbed in these wonderful smelling spices! Merci!
There is more...Dutchy (very British!) Oat Biscuits that she told me in her nice card is her favorite savoury biscuit that I can't wait to try. Ok, hold on...mmmmm these are good! So heavenly with the mustard seeds, yummm! Thank you so much Jeanne for all these wonderful treasures! You are a doll!

Oh, shame about the honey. Still the rest of the package certianly makes up for it! I knew the cooksister would create something magical.
Next exchange in May, hope you can join in again.
Hi Riana
Oh what a pity about the honey!! I was a little worried, but I thought that wrapped in bubble-wrap and tucked in between the tagine spices & the mustard, it would be OK. Alas! :-( Glad the rest of the stuff made it through. The mustard is lovely, isn't it! And the Duchy oat biscuits are delicious with cheese and sweet preserves. Mmm! Enojy :-)
